Religion in Kuwait – What It Looks Like

The official religion in Kuwait is Islam with approximately 85% of the population, split between approximately 70% Sunni and 30% Shia.  The rest of the population is divided between Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikh.

The Kuwaiti government actually does not recognise any religious groups that are not sanctioned in the Quran, meaning that other these religions can’t operate an official place of worship. However, they are allowed to meet in private and use other religious organisations’ facilities.
